Selection Process

The RRB NTPC selection process is a multi-stage examination designed to test a candidate’s aptitude and skills thoroughly.

1st Stage – Computer Based Test (CBT)	Common screening test for all posts. 100 objective-type questions in 90 minutes. Subjects: General Awareness (40), Mathematics (30), General Intelligence & Reasoning (30). Negative marking: 1/3rd for each wrong answer. Marks will be normalized for shortlisting to next stage.
2nd Stage – Computer Based Test (CBT)	Held for candidates who qualify Stage 1. 120 questions in 90 minutes. Subjects: General Awareness (50), Mathematics (35), General Intelligence & Reasoning (35). Negative marking: 1/3rd for each wrong answer. Final merit list prepared based on this stage.
3rd Stage – Skill Test	Computer Based Aptitude Test (CBAT): For Station Master & Traffic Assistant posts. Minimum T-Score of 42 in each test battery required. Final merit = 70% marks from 2nd Stage CBT + 30% from CBAT. Computer Based Typing Skill Test (CBTST): For Junior Accounts Assistant and Senior Clerk cum Typist posts. Qualifying in nature. Typing Speed: 30 WPM (English) or 25 WPM (Hindi).
