Introduction

The Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education (JKBOSE) has announced a 15% relaxation in syllabus for students of Classes 10th, 11th, and 12th who will appear in the Annual Regular 2025 (Oct–Nov) examinations. This decision brings major relief to thousands of students across Jammu, Kashmir, and Ladakh who faced academic disruptions this year.

Reason Behind the 15% Syllabus Relaxation

The move, approved by JKBOSE’s Academic Division, comes after recommendations from the Directorate of School Education and other educational authorities. It aims to assist students whose studies were affected by weather-related disturbances, including: Intense heat waves Heavy rains and floods Frequent school closures in several areas These conditions delayed the start of the academic session, leaving less time for syllabus completion.

Under the revised pattern, students will only need to attempt 85% of the question paper, which will be treated as equivalent to 100% marks. 👉 Example: For an 80-mark paper, students can answer questions worth 68 marks — these marks will be scaled up to 80. This ensures a fair evaluation without penalizing students for the reduced teaching ti

Applicability Across Regions

The relaxation will apply to all students appearing in the Annual Regular 2025 (Oct–Nov) exams from: Kashmir Division Winter Zone areas of Jammu Division Union Territory of Ladakh
